Play OverviewPlay Overview

The Oregon Trail (2021) is a narrative adventure game where you journey through America as a 19th-century pioneer. Originally a classic educational game used in US schools, you manage a party of adventurers who face trials and tribulations on the road to Oregon. It stands out as a historical educational game that is actually fun and engaging to play.

You play as the leader of a travelling party trying to get to Oregon before winter. Play involves managing resources, making tough decisions that affect your team, and dealing with a host of unexpected dangers like blizzards, river crossings and starvation. You hunt for food in minigames and encounter Native Americans and other historical figures to trade with.

As you progress, supplies and money run low so you are forced to make sacrifices to survive. Sometimes these decisions are brutal. For example, choosing which team member to leave behind to preserve resources. Your wagon's storage deteriorates over time, so you need to manage your inventory to ensure no items get lost on the road.

This results in an adventure where dire situations are inevitable. The fun lies in working to get your team to their new life in Oregon, losing as few as possible to the challenges you face along the way.
